Surveys: Majority Of Canadians Favor Funding Abortions For Maternal Health Initiative
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada (AHN) - Two recent surveys among Canadians found out that majority of residents favor funding abortions in the international maternal health initiative being pushed by Canada in the forthcoming G8 Summit.

In the Ipsos Reid poll, 56 percent of the survey respondents said they favored funding abortions. In the Nanos Research survey, 68 percent of the respondents said women in other countries who receive Canadian aid should have the same access to safe abortion as Canadian women get.
The survey results are opposite the view of Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, who have excluded abortion funding in the maternal health initiative the G8 Summit in Muskoka will discuss. Harper explained he would rather providing Canadian funding on initiatives that would not divide Canadians.
